Sea-run Trout fishing is probably some of the most challenging and exciting fishing there is in British Columbia. Sea run rainbows are know to most British Columbians as Steelhead. They are beautiful creatures that can allude some of the best anglers that have ever search them out. Steelhead can grow to as large as 30 lbs but most rivers in British Columbia would consider anything over 15 lbs a trophy. Bull Trout or Dolly Varden are also a trout that goes to sea. These fish can also grow very large but again anything over 15lb would be considered a trophy.

We are lucky enough to have one of British Columbia's best kept secrets just outside our back door. This river is one of the few remaining rivers in the SW corner of BC that is still considered a true wilderness experience with large wild salmon and trout runs. Winter and Spring are the best two times to experience the great sea-run trout fishing. Sea- run rainbows otherwise know as Steelhead begin migrating in late December. These incredible fighting fish will continue migrating right up until late May. The best time to fish for Steelhead is once the majority of fish are in the river and water temperatures begin to rise. This usually occurs sometime between early March through until late April.

By late March the sea run Bull Trout begin migrating into the river. These fish are very aggressive and most times willing to take a fly or lure. The average size is larger than the resident Bull Trout ranging from 4 lb to 15 lbs while resident Bulls are smaller averaging 2- 5 lbs. Hooking 20 or more fish per day is not uncommon, throw in a couple of Steelhead and you have a incredible trip of a lifetime.
