Fishing in British Columbia - Fly Patterns: Lead Eye Rabbit

Lead Eye Rabbit

Hook: 4 - 1/0 Gamakatzu
Thread: 6/0 Fire Orange
Wing: White Rabbit Fur
Overwing: Fluorescent red or fluorescent pink rabbit fur
Legs: Chenille, colour to match overwing
Eyes: Nickel plated barbell eyes

Tying Instructions:

Secure barbell eyes to hook just before eye of hook, by wrapping thread back and forth over the barbell eyes in a figure eight motion.
Wrap thread from eye, back about 1/3 down the hook shank.
Tie in white rabbit fur underneath hook, rabbit fur should extend slightly past hook.
Tie in red or pink rabbit fur on top of hook shank for overwing. Overwing should be same length as underwing.
Tie in chenille and wrap forward, and around eyes to eye of hook and secure with thread.
Trim, whip finish, and head cement.
