Fishing in Bridge Lake

Bridge Lake is located on the famous Hwy 24 fishing route between Little Fort and 100 Mile House. This Hwy has become an angler’s paradise because of the many quality lakes that are access from Hwy 24. Sheridan Lake, Fawn Lake, Tobe Lake, Irish Lake, Hammer Lake, Lac de Roches, Phinetta Lake, Pioneer Lake, Wavey Lake chain are just to name a few that are just minutes from Bridge Lake.

Bridge lake itself offer’s anglers quality fishing for Rainbow Trout to 5 lbs, Kokanee Salmon to 4 lbs, Lake Trout to 30 lbs and Fresh water Ling. Many methods are used on Bridge Lake to catch fish, fly- fishing and trolling are the two most popular and productive methods.

Our cabin is located in Greenall Bay. One of the most productive fishing grounds on Bridge Lake is located just minutes away by powerboat, canoe or belly boat. This is a fly fishers paradise during the prolific May Fly hatches in early June and Cadis hatches in mid to late June. Anchoring on the edges of Long Island, and casting to rising Trout is one of my favorite fisheries. These Trout fight as hard as any trout you’ll find in the Interior or Cariboo region.

Kokanee and Lake Trout fishing is another favorite for locals and visiting anglers. Trolling with spinners, flies and gang trolls in front of Greenall Bay and around Long Island are very productive from early June through until mid July. This Lake is truly one of the remaining secrets on the Hwy 24 chain.

During the heat of the summer, fishing does slow down somewhat but anglers, willing to use the deep troll method, still seem to catch quality size fish. Once the water temperatures begin to cool again in early to late September, great fishing can once again be had by fly anglers and trollers. This lake will produce excellent results well into winter.

Ice fishing is excellent during the winter months, Kokanee to 4 lbs is the mainstay catch but rainbows, lake trout and freshwater ling (burbot) can also be caught. This is a favorite fishery for local and visiting snowmobilers.

Winter sports are numerous on Bridge Lake, please view our winter sport section.
