Saltwater Fishing Vancouver
Vancouver Harbour and surrounding islands sustain a healthy 365 day fishery for salmon, bottom fish, prawns and crab. In fact it is probably the most underrated fishery along our coast. Healthy populations of bait fish in the Vancouver Harbour keep salmon around all year long and our close proximity to the Fraser River allow us to fish all year.
The Fraser River at our back door has an annual return of over 20 million salmon , during spring and early summer we get first crack at catching these salmon before they start their migration up river to spawn. Chinook salmon (Kings) up to 50lbs, Coho (Silver) up to 20lbs and endless numbers of Pink and Sockeye salmon. If you prefer fishing Freshwater for Salmon, please see our Freshwater Page.
Fishing all four seasons offers year round fishing opportunities only minutes from downtown Vancouver.
The Spring months we spend our days fishing the winter "feeder" springs in Vancouver Harbour, as well as the returning Capilano River Coho. These Coho offer great sport and can offer steady action all day long. The Feeder Springs are mostly between 5 to 10 lbs but on occasion we do see fish in the low to mid teens. On a good day out, we do see enough keepers so that our guests can take a few fish back home.
Our close proximity to the Gulf Islands allows us to pursue large Chinook salmon and bottom fish in the months of May and June. During this time period the Fraser is in Full Freshet which colors the ocean waters around Vancouver making salmon fishing more difficult. Our unsinkable 27ft Boston Whaler Offshore will get you across the strait of Georgia in style, comfort but most importantly safely as these boats are made for Big Water and Big Catches.
The summer months are very busy as we fish for Coho and Chinook Salmon throughout Vancouver Harbour, along the West Vancouver shoreline and Stanley Park. During July & August, Sockeye Salmon and Pink Salmon begin to stage near the Fraser Confluence, we switch our focus onto these hard fighting fish. Our Moorage location at Delta Airport Hotel gives us a great advantage over other Vancouver charters as we are centrally located and close to the best fishing grounds.
Fall fishing in Vancouver sees us continue to pursue the sockeye and pink runs as well as the larger mature Chinook Salmon well into September & October. Our rivers fishing operations are now into full swing and most of our fishing takes place on the Fraser and Tributaries like the Harrison River. There is still some great fishing opportunities around Vancouver for Chinook and Chum if you prefer to stay fishing in the ocean waters around Vancouver.
The winter months from December through until May bring us a healthy and consistent winter Chinook "feeder" fishery. Crab fishing in Vancouver Harbour is fantastic most months with limits on most charters. With the numerous opportunities for fishing and crabbing in our local waters combined with the breathtaking scenery, this Vancouver Winter Fishery is well worth the time and effort when visiting Vancouver.
As you can see, the fishing around Vancouver, British Columbia is world class and offers year round fishing opportunities for Salmon, Sturgeon, Ground Fish and Shell Fish. Come join us for an experience you wont soon forget.
